On Sunday the 27th September, Los Muertos Motorcycles hosted the annual Distinguished Gentlemans Ride from their shop in Bo-Kaap on the slopes of Signal hill. The turn out was fantastic with lots of custom, classic and interesting bikes. There were a few dapper gentlemen, but there is definitely room for improvement in dress code. Perhaps it was the weather forecast that had encouraged a more covered attire. Luckily Cape Town showed us blue skies for the entire ride and only at the finish line decided a soft rain would be an appropriate ending to the 2015 DGR.
The route taken showed off some of Cape Town’s finest roads and we were reminded yet again of how lucky we are to live in this magnificent city. From Los Muertos we headed up and over Kloof Nek, down into Camps Bay and along the coastal road to Hout Bay. From Hout Bay over glorious Constantia Nek’s twisties to our first stop at Peddlars on the Bend for some liquid refreshment. The parking lot was buzzing with energy as the gentlemen admired each others bikes over a beer or two.
Onwards over Ou Kaap se Weg winding down into Noordhoek and stopping to regroup just before the world famous Chapmans Peak. This dramatic coastal route has to be on the bucket list of every motorcyclist for its views, sweeping bends and sheer grin factor. Onwards back to Camps Bay and ending at Bungalow for post ride drinks and laughs.
Thanks to Los Muertos for hosting and organising, it was a great day out and brought Cape Town’s Classic and Custom motorcycle scenes together. We need more of this!
Enjoy the photo’s, I hope you have as much fun looking at them as I had shooting them, sorry if I swerved in front of anyone! Please share this blog post and credit me if you use any of the pictures.
